Top 6 Vegetarian Friendly Restaurants in Nice,France

Without any doubt, the capital of French Riviera Nice is a luxurious getaway. Its local cuisine is a perfect blend of French and Mediterranean cuisine. But truth be told, it is not easy being a vegetarian/vegan in Nice. Although, the trend is picking up, it can be quite a task navigating in search for vegetarian food that would not break the bank.  Here are 6 of my favorite restaurants for whatever cuisine may fancy you.

  • Asian Cuisine: KUMANO

15 Rue Biscarra, 06000 Nice

Kumano

If you are in search for some delicious Japanese food but are tired of eating sushi, Kumano is the place to be. It is widely famous among the Asian crowd for its ramen and I understand why! Seeing lots of young Asian people in the restaurant, I was reassured that this place offers authentic Japanese ramen!

Must Try Dish: Vegetarian Kara Miso

  • Mediterranean Cuisine: Alounak

3 Rue d’Alsace-Lorraine, 06000 Nice

Alounak

This place is a gold mine for vegetarian soul food. Alounak is not like any other restaurant with limited vegetarian options to choose from, they offer plenty of variety at a reasonable price. The owner himself is a vegetarian and offers a warm family-like service. The décor of the restaurant is traditional yet cozy.

Must Try Dish: Couscous and vegetables

  • Healthy Vegan: Caju

2 Rue Sainte-Claire, 06300 Nice

Caju

“Oh my god” was my first reaction when I tried their vegan burger. My non-vegetarian friends couldn’t believe that a vegan burger could taste so good and yet be guilt-free. A young, well- travelled, couple owns this café and they offer the friendliest service. The lady herself follows a raw vegan diet and she is very accommodating for special requests. Vegans must give this place a try while visiting Nice.

Must Try Dish: Bean Burger

  • Italian Cuisine: Benvenuto

8 Rue Dalpozzo, 06000 Nice

Benvenuto

If you are in Nice, you would probably know that it is highly influenced by the Italian architecture, culture and cuisine. Benvenuto is owned by a small Italian family and is not located in Old Town like most other Italian restaurants. It is a cozy restaurant with a French style terrace in the back. The portions are generous, and the taste is lip-smacking. The best Italian restaurant in Nice with the creamiest pasta I have ever eaten.

Must Try Dish: Truffle Pasta

  • Coffee Shop: Emilie’s Cookies

1 Rue de la Prefecture, 06300 Nice

Emilies

Although Emilie’s Cookies is a chain store, it gives me major Friends-Like throwback. It is tastefully decorated to be cool and cozy.  It is the perfect place to take a break from all the Old-Town walking while visiting Nice. Don’t let the name fool you, they offer freshly made bagels, smoothies, coffees and a great Sunday brunch. They offer menus that include a bagel, drink and a cookie/muffin at a budget.

Must Try Dish: Peanut butter cookie, PestoMate bagel and Café Viennois

  • Local Nicoise Cuisine: Lou Pilha Leva

10 Rue du Collet, 06300 Nice

Lou Pilha

Thankfully, the beloved Nicoise famous Socca is vegetarian. Socca is a baked chickpea pancake, simple yet scrumptious! Lou Pilha Leva is a canteen style that is famous even amongst the locals. Other than Socca, you can also try other Nicoise specialities including the vegetable farcis. It is a casual street food corner that gives you a taste of the local cuisine.

Must Try Dish: Socca

Do let me know if you guys try any of these restaurants and which one is your favourite!
